Rations (an olde courting songe)

Get your ruler out, Sally, Sally,
Get your ruler out Sally.
We have not any money, money.
We have not any money.

Measure a pennyworth Sally, Sally.
Measure a pennyworth each.
Measure a pennyworth for us all
And we shall see a feast.

Take your bucket Sally, Sally,
Take it to the pond,
Boil the water with the heat of your fever.
Fever for my love.

You're a grown woman, Sally, Sally
Thirty years and two.
If I could ration out my love
It all would be for you.

Alas, last night I ate my heart
To calm the hunger pangs,
And two hours later killed my dog
Because it had rabies.
A chain reaction was then set off
In my hollow, heartless body,
And I started burning the prairie at midnight,
Whilst pretending I was a centaur.
